Gordon Castle is beautifully positioned within a 500-acre highland sporting estate in Speyside. Owned by the same family since the 15th-century, it was transformed during the 18th century, by the 4th Duke of Gordon, from a Fortress which had been built for defense, into a grand baronial Scottish mansion.

At the time it became known as the largest building in Scotland. Unfortunately, after some time, crippling debts forced the sale of the castle in 1938, after it had been use as an Auxiliary Hospital in the First World War to treat wounded soldiers when they returned from the trenches. However, after the Second World War, the grandson of the 7th Duke of Richmond managed to buy the castle back into the family and set about returning it to it’s former glory. Although now slightly more modest in size, it offers delightful accommodation in exceptional comfort with a wonderful team of staff to look after the needs of every guest and is one of the finest Scottish castles to rent available.

Gordon Castle Estate has 8 miles of double bank fly fishing on one of the best salmon rivers in Scotland, the River Spey. The fishing is well supported by a ghillie and can be tailored to the guest’s specific requirements. Stalking can be organized nearby and driven grouse shooting can be arranged on the estate. Clay pigeon shooting and professional tuition can also be arranged. Other exciting activities can also be done on nearby rivers or the Moray Firth such as sailing, white water rafting, kayaking and dolphin watching. Gordon Castle also has a tennis court and large private gardens to enjoy. For golf lovers there are several nearby golf courses including Cruden Bay.
