Owned by the same family since the 15th-century, it was transformed during the 18th century, by the 4th Duke of Gordon, from a Fortress which had been built for defense, into a grand baronial Scottish mansion.

Gordon Castle Estate has 8 miles of double bank fly fishing on one of the best salmon rivers in Scotland, the River Spey. The fishing is well supported by a ghillie and can be tailored to the guest’s specific requirements. Other exciting activities can also be done on nearby rivers or the Moray Firth such as sailing, white water rafting, kayaking and dolphin watching. Gordon Castle also has a tennis court and large private gardens to enjoy. For golf lovers there are several nearby golf courses including Cruden Bay.
