It is situated in a stunning, elevated position with magnificent easterly and southerly views over rolling Shropshire countryside. When the weather is clear, it is possible to see for over 40 miles.
The property is a Grade II Listed building having been built in 1738. The current owners undertook a major renovation and restoration project which was completed in the late 1990s.
The nearest town Ludlow, is a thriving medieval market town on the picturesque River Teme. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it is an excellent base for walking, cycling and riding. There are wonderful restaurants and cafes in the town which has an international reputation for its quality of food and drink.
Downton House sleeps 20 people in 10 bedrooms with six bathrooms. There are also six lovely reception rooms, large kitchen/breakfast room and a television room on the ground floor.
Situated just 3 miles from the popular town of Ludlow and 3 hours drive from London. There is also a train station in Ludlow with trains direct to Newport in the south or Manchester in the north.
There is a resident housekeeper at Downton House with daily chef and additional staff provided on request. There are extensive gardens, outdoor swimming pool (heated in the summer), tennis court, gym and squash court. There are plenty of activities to be enjoyed such as riding (horses can be provided), cycling, walking, tennis and squash. Ludlow is a beautiful town with numerous listed buildings and a wide range of restaurants and cafes. Activities for all interests can be arranged with beautiful countryside to be enjoyed.
