Kemback House in Fife is an extraordinary, 15th Century Scottish country house rental. It has been painstakingly restored with a wonderful balance of modern and antique and is one of the finest contemporary homes in Scotland. The owner has put together a mixture of Dutch masters, rare fossils, Japanese and Chinese antiquities, and modern art. Unlike many grand Scottish houses, Kemback House has exchanged tartan arm chairs and 18th Century portraits for Fortuny fabric and contemporary British artists such as Grayson Perry and Emily Young. Every inch of the house is fascinating.
Kemback Estate includes an extensive woodland known for its waterfalls and rare native bluebells in Spring. The grounds border the Eden River, ideal for fishing and the site of several famous fossil finds.
Kemback House is ideally situated just 6 miles from the home of golf at St Andrews. There are also several world famous golf courses nearby including Gleneagles and Carnoustie. Being only 1 hour from Edinburgh it is easily accessible for those arriving from overseas.
There is fully staffed accommodation in the main house for 12 guests in 6 king size bedrooms with private bathrooms. In addition to this, there is accommodation for up to 5 guests in the Lodge.
There is a private, medieval walled garden which can be accessed from the house and provides a wonderful entertaining space in the summer. It is an ideal spot for relaxing with a drink and for a game of croquet. The garden has an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables including various berries, Italian lemons and apples. The estate produces its own special reserve apple juice from 100 year old tress and makes jams and honey from well kept beehives all for the exclusive consumption of guests. This 15th Century mansion is an ideal Scottish country house rental for those keen golfers who want to be within easy reach of St Andrews and other championship courses. Also in St Andrews is The Eden Mill Gin Distillery which is well worth a visit for gin lovers.
