Originally built in 1185 by King John, Lismore Castle passed into the hands of the Duke of Devonshire in 1753 and remains in the same family today. It has been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard by the current Duke who has managed to blend the modernisations seamlessly with the more traditional grandeur and opulence of it’s past. Guests who stay at Lismore Castle can be assured of a fine Irish welcome from the staff of the castle including the Duke’s own personal butler and his team. It is difficult to find anywhere in Ireland that can match this fabulously grand home as it is one of the grandest Irish castles.
Lismore Castle has a rich history of family gatherings and special occasions.
