TARRANT GUNVILLE MANOR

Dorset, England

Built in 1790 on the foundations of an ancient manor, Tarrant Gunville is a Grade II Listed manor house with exceptional charm.  It is situated on the edge of Cranborne Chase, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is also an international Dark Sky reserve, so for star gazers this is a perfect spot.

AT A GLANCE

Tarrant Gunville Manor, built in 1790 on the foundations of an ancient manor was given by Henry VIII to two of his wives, the small windows in the church with Tudor arms may relate to this.  Josiah Wedgwood, the son of the famous potter, bought the house in 1799 and lived here for several years.  The garden and park are totally private and tranquil and there is an astroturf tennis court for guests to use.  The current family moved here in 1956 and fully renovated the almost derelict house with the next generation updating it further in 2017.

  • Accommodation for 12 adults and two children in six bedrooms and two dressing rooms.
  • Dining room comfortably seats 12 people.
  • Tennis court.
  • Places of interest nearby include Salisbury Cathedral and many historic houses & gardens.
  • 50 minutes drive to the Jurassic Coast, Lyme Regis and Corfe Castle.
  • Rushmore Golf Club is 5 miles and Ashley Wood Golf Club 4 miles away.
  • A trip to The Newt (20 miles) is a treat and Sherborne is also worth a visit.
  • There are several good pubs in the area.

    WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

“To paraphrase what a previous guest had written in the guest book… ‘The danger starts when Sibton begins to feel like home’… which was about 3 minutes after we arrived. Sibton Parks understated glamour, grandure and luxurious homely comfort is just magical with its antique furnished dining room and too-beautiful- for-words bedrooms alongside the enormous family style kitchen, games room and cinema room… Nowhere was out of bounds, it’s all free flowing, making the experience all the more special.”

“Our group of 20+ people stayed at Wilderness Reserve for 2 nights, split between Sibton Park and The Farmhouse. We had the best time!! During the day we used the beautiful Orangery room for our group sessions, we wandered and biked around the grounds and played in the pool, and in the evenings we mingled over delicious dinners in the formal, historic dining room and socialised in the cozy games and cinema room. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive to every detail, and we were all very comfortable in our rooms and around the venue as a result. It felt like a home away from home and we can’t wait to visit again soon!”
