ASHBY MANOR HOUSE

Northamptonshire, England

The historic family home of the Gunpowder Plot, Ashby Manor is one of the most intriguing homes in England.

AT A GLANCE

From 1375 to 1611 the manor was home to the Catesby family and in 1605, Guy Fawkes, along with Robert Catesby and his conspirators gathered in the gatehouse to plan the infamous Gunpowder Plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate King James I. In the early 20th Century, Sir Edwin Lutyens integrated the diverse architectural periods and styles of the house to leave it how it is today. Now under the ownership of the Guest family, the house has been carefully restored and modernized to create a comfortable and historic family home.

Ideal for a group, a special family reunion or Christmas & New Year, Ashby Manor has a heated swimming pool and tennis court to keep the active members of a party busy during the warmer months. Many activities can be arranged locally and it is close to the cultural town of Stratford upon Avon, the home of William Shakespeare.
