Benham Valence Manor was a royal grant from Queen Elizabeth I to her Italian tutor, Giovanni Battista Castiglione, in 1570. Benham Park was built in 1775 on the site of the historic Benham Valence Manor, commissioned by William Craven, 6th Baron Craven and designed by renowned architect Henry Holland. This elegant Georgian house became home to Lady Elizabeth Craven and, later, her second husband Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach; a former German prince who had renounced his throne for a quieter life in England.

Benham Park is set in 136 acres of stunning private parkland and landscaped gardens designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. The neoclassical style, original sweeping staircase and exquisite Circular Hall reflect the taste of the original occupants. With several modifications over the years, including 20th century architectural changes, the historical character and sense of grandeur remain.
