SOMERLEYTON HALL

Suffolk, England

Somerleyton Hall is set in amongst a 5,000-acre estate in Suffolk and is often thought of as one of the most beautiful stately homes in Britain.

AT A GLANCE

There was a manor house on the site of Somerleyton Hall dating as far back as 1240 AD but the Somerleyton Hall we see today is a Tudor-Jacobean mansion. Having passed through various hands, in the 1840s Sir Samuel Morton Peto took over Somerleyton Hall and plunged much of his industrial fortune into the estate. Sadly, he became bankrupt in 1861 when Sir Francis Crossley took over Somerleyton. The house and estate have remained in the Crossley family since then.

This stunning stately home has been extensively refurbished and modernized to 21st century standards of living. The luxury bedrooms and bathrooms have been beautifully redone to retain the grandeur but also to ensure that guests are warm and comfortable. Somerleyton Hall is ideal for an idyllic family reunion or vacation, weekend house parties as well as for special celebrations or corporate events. The hall looks out over its own farmland and woodland which is abundant in deer, game and other wildlife.
