THE COTSWOLD EXPERIENCE

The Cotswolds includes parts of five different counties in the southwest of England; Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, and Worcestershire.

The Cotswolds is probably the most ‘quintessentially English’ part of England with it’s beautiful honey colored stone villages and rolling green hills. It is extremely picturesque and is packed full of wonderful historic gardens and houses to visit. There are several cultural cities and market towns to explore, gastro pubs to frequent as well as playing host to various arts and music festivals. In spite of all this, Cotswolds travel is also quiet and tranquil and is a genuine escape from the hustle and bustle of frenetic life in London.

When you go on a Cotswolds trip there are beautiful walks to go on to really experience the countryside as well as it being a great place for horse riding. In the market towns, there is an abundance of antique shops to explore and delve into for those antique lovers amongst us. Wonderful cafes to sit outside and watch the world go by and enjoy delicious pastries and other home baked delicacies. There is so much to do in this very special part of England and we would love to put together a tailor made luxury Cotswolds vacation for you.

GARDENS AND HOUSES TO VISIT

The Cotswolds is a treasure trove for garden lovers and those with a passion for historic houses. Both of which are plentiful in this area of England.

There is the privately-owned Sezincote House and gardens, along with Hidcote Gardens which is run by the National Trust, and the Batsford Arboretum which has beautiful colors throughout the year.  All of these are well worth a visit during your Cotswolds vacation and offer huge diversity and variety created with influences from all over the world.

PUBS AND SHOPPING

The Cotswolds is well known for it’s ‘oldy woldy’ pubs full of character, many of which have become highly regarded gastro pubs.

If you are spending a day in the City of Oxford taking in the culture and shops, there are some wonderful pubs to visit and rest from a day full of culture and refuel for the afternoon.  Many are beautifully situated on the banks of the River Thames, from where you can watch tourists and students punting along the river while you enjoy delicious, locally sourced British food in the pub gardens.

CULTURAL DAY TRIPS

The Cotswolds is full of historic towns and cities to visit and immerse yourself in the culture.

The university city of Oxford has all its wonderfully historic colleges to explore and is well worth a visit to experience the buzz of such a historical city with all the students, bicycles, tourists and residents mixing in together.  There is also the city of Bath to visit with its wonderful thermal baths and spas along with some fabulous shopping.  For those Shakespeare lovers, Stratford upon Avon cannot be missed.  Cheltenham and Woodstock are also nearby.
